Clean water was a precious commodity on Earth. The oceans were filthy, the rivers were polluted, the rain was acidic, even the groundwater wasn't safe. It wasn't until Harper left Earth with Beka that he first saw clear, clean water in significant amounts.

He fell in love instantly.

Years after that moment, he dragged Rommie to Infinity Atoll on leave. Clean water didn't hold the same fascination for her that it did for him, but he stubbornly persisted; taught her to swim, and how to surf, and hot to come up from a wipeout laughing.

Aww sweet. I now however demand a full length fic about Harper seeing significant amounts of clear water for the first time. Yes that's right demand, I was indeed made empress of everything overnight, so go be a good minion and hop to it. :D
